Canadian Mines See The Value of The SPX Hose Pump

A large mine in Bathurst, NB originally installed centrifugal slurry pumps for their thickener underflow application, but after a few months of operation it was clear that these centrifugal pumps were not right for the application. Percent solids of the slurries were too high and the centrifugal pumps couldn’t produce the desired flowrate. Not to mention, the abrasive wear on the pumps was unacceptable and costly.

The Canadian mine replaced these problematic pumps with Bredel SPX hose pumps. Unlike other pump types, the high levels of abrasives in the slurry do not affect the pump life. Peristaltic technology enables the SPX to pump from the thickener dependably for long periods of time. The mine installed SPX pumps for their 65% solids zinc and lead thickener under flow applications.
